Sir Paul and Ringo Starr reunite to promote meditation

Thursday April 2, 2009

Beatles band mates Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Star are teaming up to encourage youngsters to switch on to the positive effects of meditation. The musicians will take part in a live website broadcast on Friday to promote an initiative to get one million at-risk young people using the technique.

The pair, who travelled in India with John Lennon and George Harrison in 1967 to learn transcendental meditation from guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, will join experts in discussing meditation technique and its benefits on health and advantages in combating problems such as anxiety, depression, and substance abuse.

On Saturday the musicians will top the bill at a charity concert in the Big Apple to raise funds for the cause. Among the musicians joining them on stage will be Sheryl Crow, Moby and Ben Harper.
