But it seems Elton John also has a talent for comedy, sending the Saturday Night Live audience into fits of laughter with his sketch on new baby boy Zachary.

"Just a few months ago, my partner David and I became the proud parents of a beautiful baby boy," the 63-year-old told the crowd.

"And as you can see, I still haven't lost the baby weight."

Continuing to poking fun at himself, the iconic musician went on: "So far the baby really takes after me.

"He screams and cries when he doesn't get his way – and he's had his ups and downs with the bottle."

Referring to his fortune, he said: "The doctors told us that we had a healthy baby with 10 fingers, 10 toes and $400m dollars."

Elton and David Furnish welcomed baby Zachary on Christmas Day via a surrogate mother.
