William to present BAFTA to Vanessa Redgrave

Thursday February 18, 2010

Second-in-line Prince William has a special part to play in this Sunday's televised BAFTA ceremony.

The young royal will be presenting an award to veteran actress Vanessa Redgrave.

It will be the first time William has taken part in a high profile awards gala. He will walk the red carpet alone, however, without girlfriend Kate Middleton.

Oscar winner Vanessa will be awarded the Academy Fellowship, which recognises outstanding contribution to film.

A St James's Palace spokesman says: "The Prince was honoured and delighted to be asked because it's obviously an immensely powerful organisation which represents one of Britain's most successful industries."
