David Tennant's fatherly role for new BBC drama

Friday February 19, 2010

It may be hard for fans to imagine him as anything other than Doctor Who.

But David Tennant is soon to hit screens as a slightly different leading character.

The Scottish actor is to star in a four-part series called Single Father.

The show, created by Ashes to Ashes writer Mick Ford, is about a man bringing up four children after his wife's death.

"I feel very lucky to have been sent this script. When I read it I was desperate to be part of the project," David says.

Meanwhile, the actor is still awaiting news about his US drama, Rex Is Not Your Lawyer. The show, in which he plays a top Chicago attorney, has been put on hold until further notice.
