Padma Lakshmi – the former wife of novelist Salman Rushdie – has given birth to her first child.
The Top Chef host, 39, welcomed a daughter on Saturday in New York, her representative confirmed to People. "Mother and baby are well and happy," they added.
Padma has named her new arrival Krishna Thea Lakshmi.
Just last month, the beauty had hinted about what she would call the baby, saying: "I am going to name the child an Indian name."
"It will be after someone in my family, so don't expect to see an Anglicised name – it will be a classically Indian Sanskrit name."
Padma announced her pregnancy back in October, although she has not revealed who the father is.
