Soap star Barbara Windsor said she feels "honoured" after being given freedom of the City of London on Wednesday.
The actress - who plays Peggy Mitchell in Eastenders - described herself as a "true, true Londoner" and added: "I can't believe it. I thought you had to be very posh.
"I'm in a job I absolutely love and I feel so important today."
The Freedom of the City of London is believed to have begun in 1237.
The honour is presented to celebrate a significant achievement or a major contribution to London life.
And it can be safely said that after an astounding sixty years in showbiz, 72-year old Barbara has fulfilled this requirement.
