Carole and Michael Middleton visit Kate in hospital

04 DECEMBER 2012

With their eldest daughter still in hospital Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton have set off to be by her side. William's mother and father-in-law were spotted separately leaving their family home in Berkshire early on Tuesday as they headed to London where Kate is undergoing treatment at King Edward VII hospital.

Dressed smartly in brown overcoat, Kate's mother Carole, smiled as she left her Bucklebury mansion, whilst Michael, 63, drove away in a separate Range Rover.

Since announcing the happy news, Clarence House have said the Duchess will stay in hospital for several days to help her recover. During that time Kate's family and husband will be supporting her and sister Pippa, who lives in nearby Fulham, is soon expected to visit the pregnant royal.

Kate, who is very close to her family, was spending the weekend at their home with William when her sickness meant they were forced to go to hospital. Late on Monday, the Duke of Cambridge was seen leaving his wife's bedside to allow her to recuperate from acute morning sickness but was keen to join her again the following day.

Dressed down in jeans and trainers, William was dropped off at the London hospital around 11:30 am. The Prince, who enjoys a good relationship with his in-laws will join them in looking after Kate's health during her pregnancy.

Without Kate the Middleton's, who include Carole, Michael, Pippa and James, were last seen together in late-October when Pippa's party guide, Celebrate, was launched.

The Duchess of Cambridge's baby will be the first grandchild for Carole and Michael, who are said to be "elated" at their daughter's happy news. Their large family estate in Berkshire also boasts plenty of rooms and garden space for the youngster to play in during countryside visits.

William and Kate are due to move into their Kensington Palace apartment in April, when the Duchess is estimated to be around seven months pregnant. Having enjoyed a low-key lifestyle at their home in Anglesey, North Wales, the couple will begin to increase their personal staff upon their move to the capital.
